Summer 2017 NYC Preview Showcase, Jan. 5
Summer feels like an eternity away, especially when you consider that we aren't even two weeks into winter. But the weather will change; the leaves will turn green and, just like the songbirds who have flown south, live music will return to New York's parks. And lest you give in to despair, Summerstage is hosting a Summer Preview this Thurs., Jan. 5 at the Highline Ballroom. The headliners are the hip-hop inflected, instrumental jazz group BADBADNOTGOOD. After a 2015 spent collaborating with the likes of Ghostface Killah and Earl Sweatshirt, the band spent 2016 touring their latest album, the critically acclaimed IV. Also performing this night are the Cuban jazz musician Daymé Arocena, singer-songwriter Lady Wray, and the Paris-based artist ALA.NI. For the New Yorker who has been housebound under cold rain for days now, here's your chance to get out, and remember the wide world beyond your Netflix account, and the warm seasons to come.
