Transatlantic Magic: Nikhil P. Yerawadekar & Low Mentality At C'mon Everybody
Multi-instrumentalist and producer, Nikhil P. Yerawadekar is widely known to be the bass player of the popular Afrobeat band, Antibalas, of which, he has been a member for over nine years. He started his professional career with a curious ear for rich African sounds like Afrobeat, Tuareg blues and Ethiopian jazz, which led him to work with various African musicians in Brooklyn and Harlem, this includes bands like The Sway Machinery and Akoya Afrobeat. He also worked closely with notable names like Tony Allen, Khaira Arby, Cedric “Im” Brooks and Zap Mama. After working with such a broad spectrum of musicians and genres he decided to form the band, Low Mentality. The band is known to fuse Afrobeat, reggae, dancehall, hip-hop and rock music to create energetic funky dance grooves. “Transatlantic Magic,” is the brainchild of Nikhil P. Yerawadekar & Low Mentality. It is a free-to-the-public monthly series at C’mon Everybody in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, New York held every second Wednesday of the month. The Transatlantic Magic aims to showcase the band’s rich Afro-inspired sounds and bring Brooklynites of various backgrounds together on one dance floor. The line-up includes a variety of unique afrocentric bands and community DJs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=87&v=QIC08mc_Pfo Afropop is happy to announce that Nikhil P.
