Based in New York City, M.A.K.U Soundsystem has played in many cities and countries sharing their immigrant beat, a unique sound that encompasses their immigrant experience. On stage M.A.K.U juxtaposes traditional Colombian percussion, drum-set, electric bass, guitar, and vocals to create an explosive performance filled with unshakable grooves.
The Mobile Unit continues The Public’s commitment to bring free performances to communities with limited or no access to the arts by taking plays on tour to correctional facilities, homeless shelters, social service organizations and more. Part of the Mobile Unit and Joe’s Pub’s collaborative series, In Transit, M.A.K.U Soundsystem will tour to correctional facilities and community venues, ending with a show at Joe’s Pub.
