More information and where to RSVP.
Multilingual French-Moroccan vocalist Malika Zarra and her collaborators will perform the world premiere of a new commission, a musical experience introducing children to a variety of sounds and rhythms from North Africa.
This Musical Journey event brings a new twist to TILT’s longstanding theme of musical exploration—a core element of the Festival’s DNA since it launched three years ago.
Kids and adults alike will be transported into the singer’s intimate universe and invited to join the celebration in the French Cultural Services’ ballroom.
French-Moroccan singer/composer/producer Malika Zarra is a multi-cultural shape-shifter who leaps effortlessly between seemingly unconnected languages and traditions. With her beautiful sinuous mezzo-soprano voice, she demonstrates a rare ability to communicate both powerful and subtle ideas and feelings in Berber, Moroccan Arabic, French, and English. She has performed all around the world, including at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, and has collaborated with international artists such as John Zorn, Makoto Ozone, David Gilmore and many others.
