Radio Jarocho plays son jarocho, the rowdy, upbeat, and at times melancholic music of the countryside of Veracruz, Mexico, and mixes it with the sounds of New York’s urban life. Having recently joined forces with master jarana player and poet Zenen Zeferino, they deliver performances that are passionate, energetic, and true to the roots of the genre. Radio Jarocho & Zenen Zeferino will release their first full-length studio production together called, "Rios de Norte y Sur" (Rivers of North and South). A combination of traditional songs and new compositions, the poetry and music of "Rios de Norte y Sur" is evocative of the bodies of water that connect New York and Veracruz, and that know no borders, walls, or frontiers.
