Video: "We Just Want To Be" (The Graduate Remix) by Lowdown Brass Band

Chicago’s Lowdown Brass Band has never been secretive about their heavy influence from New Orleans, but I can’t recall ever hearing their Jamaican influence as clearly as you can in the freshly released remix of “We Just Want To Be.”

It’s always a treat seeing Chicago—the South Loop and beach and locations I couldn’t place—behind  MC Illuminati Congo and the LDB’s resident MC and long-time collaborator Billa Camp, and those classic dub delay hits reliably nail the brain’s pleasure centers.

Also, we’d be remiss not to point out that, on tour, these guys are venturing into territory rarely visited by bands we write about. Any Alaskan reader up at Salmon Fest this weekend or down in Homer can check ‘em out. Seeing them in the endless twilight of an Alaskan summer night doesn’t sound too bad—pack bug spray though.
