Wally Seck
It's not often that New York audiences get a chance to hear full-on Senegalese mbalax music, pur et dur (pure and strong), as Wally Seck's late father Thione Seck used to say. Wally is, if anything, surpassing his father's stature and influence in the world of mbalax, collaborating with other young West African greats like Sidiki Diabaté. Afropop attended Wally's 2022 NYC show and it was nothing short of riveting, start to finish. It's a late night, in the Dakar style, but well worth it!
