"The Rumba Kings" Documentary Comes to New York Screens and Streaming Nov. 12

The Rumba Kings documentary, which tells the history of Congolese rumba, has been on the festival circuit all year and will be showing at New York's Cinépolis Chelsea theater, Nov. 12 and 16. It will also be available to stream across the United States from Nov. 12-28.

The Rumba Kings
looks at the birth and flourishing of Congolese rumba through some of its most legendary progenitors, Grand Kallé, Dr. Nico and Franco. Afropop's Banning Eyre calls it the best film on the subject to appear yet, with beautiful, rarely seen footage and photos of the legends who crafted this crown jewel of African music.

Producer Alan Brain will be at Cinépolis Chelsea for a Q&A session after the screening. Tickets for those showings or to stream online are available via the DOC NYC website now.
